Apparently Luke James Dance Scene In Little Caused Quite A Stir On Set

In this weekends new comedy Little, moviegoers will see a ton of big-screen breakout performances, including 14-year-old Marsai Martin, best known for her role in ABCs Black-ish, roll with Insecures Issa Rae and Regina Hall from Girls Trip, shaping up into an impressive female-centric cast. On the Little set, there was one performance everyone couldnt bear to miss R&B singer Luke James taking the floor for his characters seductive & hilarious dance.

In my interview with Littles writer/director Tina Gordon, she painted the picture of one of the most memorable days for the cast and crew on set. In her words:

Luke James was the lightning rod that brought everyone together on the rooftop in an Atlanta penthouse maybe because he was going to dance. Regina [Hall] flew in allegedly to support us as a producer but probably also to enjoy Luke James dancing. It was a great memory: it was like a hot night and we were on this gorgeous rooftop in Atlanta, overlooking the city with great music playing and Luke is just the kindest, most generous actor who can sing and dance. It was near the end of production, we just relaxed and Luke was dancing for us.

It looks like Luke James scene was quite the event, so much so that Regina Hall may have bought a plane ticket just to see the show. The Grammy-nominated singer is best known for his falsetto voice found in sultry songs such as "These Arms and Drip," and he has recently transitioned into acting. He guest starred in an episode of Insecure, the Fox series Star and the 2013 film Black Nativity.

In Little, he contributes to a few funny moments as he tries to win the heart of mean-spirited tech entrepreneur Jordan, who magically wakes up one morning as a 12-year-old version of herself after bullying a young girl. Heres a bit of the scene, via the films Instagram:

Now when you watch the scene, you can imagine J. Holidays Bed was likely laid over oohhs and roars of laughter from the cast and crew who all couldnt help but be in attendance for the filming of the scene. Tina Gordon, who also recently penned What Men Want, continued by saying this about the day on set:

If the camera could turn around and I think we have that footage literally every woman in the crew and some men made it to that rooftop.

Looks like Luke James used a mix of his song-and-dance talent and some comedy chops to pull off the highlight of the filming process. You can see the funny scene when Little opens on Friday, alongside Hellboy and Missing Link. Hellboy was originally predicted to edge over the comedy this weekend, but with its disappointing reviews, maybe Little will find a few more reasons to dance.

A Star Is Born Was Originally Going To Star A Real Rocker Instead Of Bradley Cooper

A Star Is Born Was Originally Going To Star A Real Rocker Instead Of Bradley Cooper

After seeing A Star is Born, it's hard to imagine anyone else playing Jackson Maine other than Bradley Cooper. In addition to the emotion he brought to the role, the four-time Oscar nominee sang his own songs and was also totally convincing as a rock star. Originally though, A Star is Born was going to star a real rocker instead of Bradley Cooper: the former lead singer of The White Stripes, Jack White.

When Bradley Cooper was initially looking at A Star is Born as his directorial debut, he was interested in having an actual musician play the part of the aging rocker and he met with him about the part. According to Variety's sources, that actual musician was Jack White. However, while Bradley Cooper was interested in him in the role, it seems that the studio was not and would not make the movie with Jack White.

It's not clear why the studio didn't want Jack White to lead the movie. Perhaps it felt that he didn't have enough acting credits to instill confidence he could lead the film or perhaps he just wasn't a recognizable enough face. This all apparently occurred before Lady Gaga came aboard to star in the film, so maybe the studio wanted to make sure that at least one of the leads had a big name.

Singer-songwriter Jack White has been successful in bands and as a solo artist, so he obviously would have delivered in the musical parts of the film and A Star is Born would have played to his strengths, much as it did Lady Gaga's. The majority of Jack White's acting credits are roles where he played himself, although he did have a part in Cold Mountain and he delivered a memorable Elvis Presley in Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story.

You can see the inclination to have a real rock star in the role. The songs are fraught with emotion and part of the story, so they have to be good and you want someone who can bring some authenticity on that front. It's hard to know how Jack White would have been as Jackson Maine, but thankfully the film we got doesn't have too many people wishing for what might have been.

While stellar musical performances are great, in the quiet moments you also need someone who can really act. Fortunately, Bradley Cooper actually sang live, including some songs he wrote, and came off as a believable rock star in the film. And Lady Gaga, who is a pop star, showed she is also a great actress. So it was a perfect marriage of two people who could deliver in all the areas the movie required.

Jack White as one of the leads is just one of the many permutations of what might have been with this A Star is Born remake over the years. At one point, Clint Eastwood was attached to direct and the film would have starred Beyonc instead of Lady Gaga. In the male lead, names like Will Smith, Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Cruise and Christian Bale were all talked about.

A Star is Born has been a box office hit and it is set to make a serious run come awards season. Bradley Cooper's film may even get a new, extended cut. A Star is Born is still playing, but that's not the only awards contender in theaters this fall. Check out all of the holiday's biggest blockbusters and buzziest films in our Holiday Movie Guide.

The Avengers: Endgame Runtime Appears To Be Set

The Avengers: Endgame Runtime Appears To Be Set

Avengers: Endgame is reaching an endgame for its own runtime. Before we knew for sure that Avengers 4 would get Doctor Strange's Infinity War quote as its title, co-director Joe Russo gave an update from early post-production. Now that a bit more time has passed, he sounds more confident about where the film will land:

There's a high probability that this movie will clock in at around three hours. It's a big movie with a lot of story.

If Joe Russo told Empire Magazine there's a "high probability" that something will happen in his own movie, you can pretty much rest assured that it will happen. Avengers: Endgame will clock in around three hours.

About a month ago, Joe Russo had said Avengers 4 was currently sitting right at three hours, but he added, "We'll see if that holds." Joe and Anthony Russo were busy shooting additional footage after filming Avengers: Endgame back-to-back with Avengers: Infinity War. They planned to be in post-production through early 2019. They said they hoped to be done by March, which is when Captain Marvel -- the first MCU film of 2019 -- comes to theaters.

Avengers: Endgame just revealed its first trailer and official title earlier in December. That's also when it was confirmed that the film would be moving from early May to a release date of April 26, 2019.

If the plan is to be in post-production until March, it's possible some last-minute changes could affect the runtime. But it sounds like the Russos are pretty much set on it being around three hours. Does that mean 3 hours, 5 minutes, or 2 hours 50 minutes? Anything over 2 hours 40 minutes will beat Avengers: Infinity War, which is already the longest MCU movie to date.

You'd expect Avengers: Endgame to be longer, since it's the culmination of this story. As Joe Russo said, it's a big movie with a lot to cover. Someone has to save Tony Stark, not to mention try to save the half of the planet that was snapped by Thanos. Hawkeye has to rejoin the story after his Infinity War absence. Scott Lang's Ant-Man has to tie himself to the Quantum Realm plot. And of course there will be a lot more footage than Marvel doesn't show us in any upcoming trailers.

It's not like Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige would be breathing down the Russos' necks to cut footage for a shorter runtime. They could run this puppy for five hours and fans would show up. Gladly.

The official final Avengers: Endgame runtime won't be announced until much closer to the film's release in spring 2019, but plan for three hours -- plus previews. Plus popcorn time. Plus pre-film trips to the bathroom. You know it's coming April 26, 2019, and here's what else is ahead in the massive 2019 film schedule.
