Avengers 4 Has Added A 13 Reasons Why Star

Just like Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers 4 is going to have a stacked cast. That said, the majority of the faces will be familiar, as most of Infinity War's players will be back, and recognizable characters like Captain Marvel, Happy Hogan and Hope van Dyne are also confirmed to appear. As far as brand new characters go, word has come in that 13 Reasons Why star Katherine Langford has been added to the proceedings.

This casting update comes courtesy of The Wrap, although the outlet noted that details about Katherine Langford's Avengers 4 character are being kept secret. Given how hush-hush Marvel has been about the movie (the same way it handled Avengers: Infinity War for a long time), this is hardly surprising.

Katherine Langford is best known for her Golden Globe-nominated performance as Hannah Baker on the Netflix series 13 Reasons Why, which aired its second season back in May. Although that show will be back for Season 3, Langford has hopped to a new Netflix gig, next year's Arthurian-like drama series Cursed. The actress also appeared in Love, Simon earlier this year.

Katherine Langford is actually only the second actor who hasn't previously appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to be announced for Avengers 4. In September 2017, The Wolverine's Hiroyuki Sanada was the first new actor to be revealed, though like Langford, we have no idea who he's playing.

With seven months to go until Avengers 4's release, it's possible that Marvel Studios might reveal who Katherine Langford is playing right before the public sees the movie. Then again, Peter Dinklage was cast in Avengers: Infinity War in January 2017, and we didn't learn that he was playing Eitri, the king of the dwarves on Nidavellir, until the movie was screening. Regardless, with such a large cast, it's hard to say if Langford's character will be an important player or if her role is minor.

For years we had no idea what to expect from Avengers 4, but when Thanos snapped his Infinity Stones-powered fingers and wiped out half of all life in the universe at the end of Avengers: Infinity War, that set the stage for what will be the final Phase 3 movie. Officially, Marvel has been careful not to reveal any Avengers 4 story details, though there's been plenty of unofficial chatter and speculation, from the movie picking up years after Infinity War to the surviving heroes venturing into the Quantum Realm.

Fortunately, it doesn't sound like we'll have to wait much longer to get a peek at Avengers 4. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige said the first trailer will premiere before the year is over, and once that's out, we'll finally know what the title is (Avengers: Annihilation is among the popular guesses right now).

Avengers 4 opens in theaters on May 3, 2019, so stay tuned to CinemaBlend for continuing coverage. In the meantime, check out our Marvel movies guide to learn what else is in the works for the superhero franchise.

Bradley Cooper Used His Own Dog In A Star Is Born And PETA Is Happy

Bradley Cooper Used His Own Dog In A Star Is Born And PETA Is Happy

Since A Star is Born was released this week, the emotional film starring Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper is sending audiences home in tears over its sheer beauty. On top of the incredible vocal and dramatic performances from its leads, moviegoers got an extra treat. Cooper's very own pup, Charlie, steals hearts in A Star is Born and has fans advocating for a Best Supporting Actor nomination for the pup. The animal activist organization PETA has also taken notice and is praising Cooper for his decision to cast his own animal companion in the film.

Per an official statement from the organization, Bradley Cooper will receive PETA's inaugural "Compassion in Film Award" for including Charlie in A Star is Born instead of using a dog supplied by one of Hollywood's animal exhibitors. In its statement, PETA called out industry animal trainer Birds & Animals Unlimited, which was investigated by the organization in 2016. The findings showed the supplier mistreated its animals by keeping them outside in cold temperatures and often denying them food. The organization also took the opportunity to bring to attention the often mistreatment of animals on film sets.

PETA has been an keen voice for animals on film sets, particularly last year leading up to the release of A Dog's Purpose. The family film centering on the connection between dogs and humans was condemned following a video obtained from TMZ, showing the mistreatment of a German Shepherd who was being forced into a pool of rushing water. PETA called for a boycott of the film, although investigations by American Humane concluded that the video wasn't on the set of A Dog's Purpose. While the film was impacted by the controversy, it still opened at #2 at the box office, taking home $204 million worldwide.

More recently PETA has targeted the television show Yellowstone after a whistleblower claimed the series used actual cow corpses instead of using props or fakes. The organization called for Paramount executives to cut all scenes featuring the mistreated animals and commit to using props and special effects instead.

With headlines concerning PETA and Hollywood films usually at odds, it's a nice change of pace to see the organization recognizing the proper treatment of animals on film sets. Last year, the organization created its own award recognition called the PETA Oscats, where it praised the best family-friendly films and stars of the year. It awarded both Mother! and Ladybird as their movie picks, along with other awards, including giving Ryan Gosling recognition for his shearling-free coat in Blade Runner 2049.

As more audiences flock to see A Star is Born this weekend, they can rest easy that Bradley Cooper's adorable dog companion wasn't mistreated with his adorable and precious performance alongside Cooper and Lady Gaga.

The 10 Greatest Rap Songs Created For Movies

The 10 Greatest Rap Songs Created For Movies

People may not initially tie the world of cinema and hip hop together, unless of course they're thinking of the various hip hop icons who have transitioned into the genre as actors. Despite the disconnect, hip hop and movies have gone together for quite some time and have given some great songs to the world. No, we're not talking about Eminem's "Venom" or that line in the song he dedicated to getting high off the scent of elephant manure.

Instead, we're talking about the 10 greatest rap songs that have been created for movies. Each song on this list is special in its own way and helped make the movie it was made for that much better. Listed in chronological order, here's the breakdown of the best hip hop songs to have come from movies over the years.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II- "Ninja Rap"There isn't a lot to love about Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret Of The Ooze, but that Vanilla Ice cameo was pretty sweet. Those who say the rapper was a one-hit wonder clearly forgot about his rap about the green machine, who's going to rock the town without being seen. If you're looking for a song that perfectly encapsulates the fun and sillier side of early 90s rap, this is it.

Deep Cover- "Deep Cover"This Laurence Fishburne and Jeff Goldblum drama was a fun ride from start to finish, and the theme song that accompanies it is an added bonus that's been enjoyed long after the film. "Deep Cover" remains relevant in the hip hop world to this day not just because it's a good song, but it was Dr. Dre's solo debut and the first song from a relatively unknown rapper at the time, Snoop Dogg.

Dangerous Minds- "Gangsta's Paradise"Fun fact, "Gangsta's Paradise" was originally eyed by the film Bad Boys to be its title track. Coolio told Rolling Stone Dangerous Minds offered more money, so the rights went to it. The move to Dangerous Minds wasn't all bad, as one of the film's producers ended up shooting the music video with Coolio and Michelle Pfeiffer. That producer was Antoine Fuqua who, as many may know, has since moved on to directing much bigger productions.

Space Jam- "Space Jam"Quad City DJ's were riding high in the mid-'90s, and the success of "C'mon And Ride It (The Train)" got them on Warner Bros. radar. According to Spin, the artists weren't given any instruction beyond the song be "high octane" and mention Space Jam in the title. Suffice to say, the crew delivered in spades. Lemonhead later admitted he never saw the movie in theaters, making it the one film they contributed to he missed. That's looney.

Men In Black- "Men In Black"Will Smith has done many songs over his career for things he's appeared in, and while "The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air," may be his finest work, this is a close second. The song was Smith's first single that didn't include DJ Jazzy Jeff, and ended up being a track he included on his solo album Big Willie Style. It also has a catchy beat and easy to follow dance instructions, and who doesn't love that?

Bulworth- "Ghetto Supastar"How many album covers of singles feature Warren Beatty in urbanwear next to Pras Michel in a three-piece suit? Just one, and what a glorious picture it is for a weird film like Bulworth. The song was featured on the film's soundtrack, and has become a classic arguably more noteworthy today than the film. Perhaps if Bulworth had won one of its three Oscar nominations it was up for that year, it would've been a different story.

He Got Game- "He Got Game"This is perhaps the best film and hip hop combo on the list, as Spike Lee's basketball drama mixed with Public Enemy over a sample of Buffalo Springfield's "For What It's Worth" is something special. It's all elevated by phenomenal performances by Denzel Washington and former NBA superstar Ray Allen. In fact, it wouldn't be crazy to argue that Allen delivered the best on-screen performance of any NBA star prior and since then.

8 Mile- "Lose Yourself"Even if his Venom track may be lackluster, there's no denying that Eminem has contributed one of the most popular rap songs and best rap films of all time. "Lose Yourself" is viewed as one of the rapper's greatest songs, and it pairs wonderfully with the movie loosely based on his time as an up and coming MC in Detroit. Also, some respect is due to the first hip hop song to ever get an Oscar.

Hustle & Flow- "It's Hard Out Here For A Pimp"Eminem might've had the first rap song to be given an Oscar, but Three 6 Mafia managed to top him with one better. Their song "It's Hard Out Here For A Pimp" for Hustle & Flow also got the award, and was the first hip hop song to have ever been performed during the ceremony. Considering the other great songs that are on this list, that's kind of hard to believe.

Suicide Squad- "Purple Lamborghini"One may not immediately remember Suicide Squad has a rap theme song, mainly because there's so much music in it to begin with. Rick Ross' song can be heard during the club scene, where Jared Leto's twisted and only briefly seen Joker is hanging out in the club. The song also got a music video, which will give fans of this film some additional scenes with Leto's Joker they may have felt robbed of.

Readers with songs they loved that they felt should've been included in the list can feel free to sound off in the comments. After all there's a surprising amount of songs beyond this list, many of which just barely missed the mark for appearing. For more on music in films, read up on James Wan's reasoning for including a Pitbull song in the midst of Aquaman.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom Makes A Point To Show Us Bryce Dallas Howard's Shoes

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom Makes A Point To Show Us Bryce Dallas Howard's Shoes

Some shoe spoilers can be found throughout this article. If you're particular about footwear, you have been warned.

When Jurassic World came out in 2015, sure people talked about the cool dinosaurs and the fun new characters. They also talked a lot about the fact that Bryce Dallas Howard literally ran from a Tyrannosaurus Rex in a pair of heels, and it became a talking point for the movie in the months following the release. I'm not sure exactly how many times that Bryce Dallas Howard and others who were involved in the movie were asked about wearing heels while running from dinosaurs, but the number has to be high. For the follow-up, director J.A. Bayona and Bryce Dallas Howard gamely make a point about footwear in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom through the early part of the movie. This includes one epic and notable shot of Claire Dearing in boots in the early part of the film.

We've known for a while that Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom would follow Claire Dearing and Owen Grady returning to Isla Nublar to help save species from volcanic extinction. However, before any of this dino saving even goes down, the two characters travel to the island with some newcomer characters. While stepping out of the plane, J.A. Bayona gives us a clear shot of Claire Dearing that purposefully focuses on her boots. Boots that are big and thick and clearly made for hiking.

This isn't the only time Claire Dearing's footwear is prominent in the movie. Bryce Dallas Howard stated to the press ahead of the movie's release that Claire would continue to enjoy wearing heels, and she does wear fancy footwear early in the movie--just not when she's saving her skin and hiding from dangerous dinosaurs. Per Howard,

I wanted it to be clear from the beginning that Claire has changed and she's wearing heels still. A person can have an inner journey and still love heels! And, yes, she's prepared to go to the island and she's wearing boots.

Her fashion sensibility is seen early on when she wears a soft filmy skirt and white turtleneck, along with less sensible shoes for her meeting with Eli Mills (Rafe Spall) and Benjamin Lockwood (James Cromwell), where she hears about their plan to save the raptor Blue and other dinosaurs on the island. The shoes she wears pre-island are given camera time and are a conscious choice, as well.

Basically, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom has heard the footwear complaints and spends time addressing them head-on.

It should be noted that switching Claire Dearing to boots is not a new idea. Years ago, producer Colin Trevorrow shared a really amusing post about Claire's footwear of choice, giving her plenty of options for the new movie.

The pair she ended up going with were black and shiny and durable, and they come in handy during a particular sequence where she, Chris Pratt and newcomer Justice Smith's characters have to run to catch a boat and get out of dodge. While it was hard enough believing the actress could outrun a T-Rex in heels, it would have equally hard to believe she could outrun a boat. So kudos to Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom on giving her sensible footwear.

You can catch Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom in theaters, now.
