Why King Kong Has No Chance Against Godzilla, According To OShea Jackson Jr.

Why King Kong Has No Chance Against Godzilla, According To OShea Jackson Jr.

Are you team King Kong or Team Godzilla? While were a year away from Godzilla Vs. Kong, its a debate thats already been pretty prevalent in pop culture, and thats unlikely to slow down in the coming months.

In fact, if you were to ask Godzilla: King of the Monsters actor OShea Jackson which side of the debate hes on, hed likely tell you hes Team Godzilla all the way. Dont take it from me, though, take a look at what he had to say in a recent interview with CinemaBlend

According to the actor, the biggest con to Kong is that hes just a big gorilla and theres nothing special about that. In fact, the big monkey trope came up outside of Kong: Skull Island fairly recently with Dwayne Johnsons Rampage. In short, weve seen big gorillas take on big foes before.

Per OShea Jackson Jr., fans need to rally behind characters like the radioactive Godzilla, powerful creatures with prowess outside of the norm. King Kong might be smart and he might have an opposable thumb, but thats nothing compared to radioactive breath. Or as Jackson Jr. put it:

Look, man Im tired of this gorilla bro. Gorillas are mad normal. You made it bigger! I dont care, like, thats so weak King Kong has been overrated since I was a kid. Sorry.

Thomas Middleditch also attempted to interject that King Kong is the underdog of the fight, but OShea Jackson Jr. was not having any of it in his interview with CinemaBlends own Jeff McCobb.

Look, although its clear OShea Jackson Jr. has strong opinions, here, its not like the debate about King Kong and Godzilla is super cut and dried. Godzilla: King of the Monsters director Mike Dougherty has already been very clear that it will be a real underdog fight, also noting,

Were looking at an almost David vs. Goliath situation. Because everyone, the moment you say Godzillas going to fight Kong, your first reaction is Kong doesnt stand a chance. Godzillas got his radioactive breath, et cetera, et cetera. But then if you really take the time to look at Kong as a character, its like, okay, in Skull Island he was an adolescent, so he was still growing. So who knows how big he is since the 1970s when they first met him?

Oppositely, it also seems as if Godzilla has grown a ton ahead of Godzilla: King of the Monsters as well.

Im pretty sure an underdog fight featuring two cinematic creatures that audiences have rallied around for decades is going to get butts into the seats, regardless of whether radioactive breath holds up against a being that can lob tree trunks.

Still, well find out who the ultimate winner is when Godzilla Vs. Kong officially hits theaters on May 22, 2020.

In the meantime, this weekend is Godzillas chance to shine. You can catch the big, scaly creature in action opposite OShea Jackson Jr. in Godzilla: King of the Monsters starting this weekend, and see what else is coming up with our full movie premiere schedule.

See What Jon Hamm Could Look Like As DCs New Batman

See What Jon Hamm Could Look Like As DCs New Batman

Its that time again, folks: time to cast a new Batman. After nearly two years of speculation, last week Ben Affleck confirmed he will not be reprising the Caped Crusader for The Batman. Now DC and Warner Bros must find a new actor to don the cape and cowl, and one of the names thats been thrown out by fans is Mad Men star Jon Hamm. If youre curious about how Hamm might look suited up as Batman, the image below does the job quite nicely.

Jon Hamm certainly looks intimidating in Batmans classic black and grey costume in the above artwork. There are two key components to playing Batman on the big screen: how one looks and acts in the costume, and how effectively one portrays the Bruce Wayne persona. Hamm can almost certainly pull off the Bruce Wayne aspect thanks to his time on Don Draper, and this artwork presents a good case for him donning the Batman costume as well.

Artist aboyningthouja even suggested that a Jon Hamm Batman could be a counterpart to Joaquin Phoenixs Joker. As far as we know, even with a new actor playing the eponymous character, The Batman will still be set in the DC Extended Universe, whereas Joker is a standalone movie set outside of the DCEU. So such a showdown is unlikely to actually happen, but its a nice thought.

This isnt the first time that Jon Hamms name has come up in connection with Batman. Just last September, he said he would be interested in playing Gotham Citys shadowy vigilante provided that he liked the script. Hamm has also been repeatedly fan-casted online as Superman, a role thats currently shrouded in uncertainty since it still hasnt been officially confirmed whether or not Henry Cavill is playing the Man of Steel again.

One hitch that could prevent Jon Hamm from being a legitimate candidate for leading The Batman is age. Its been reported that director Matt Reeves is looking for a younger actor for the role, and Hamm is actually a year older than the departing Ben Affleck. So unless Reeves changes his mind, its doubtful Hamm will be in serious consideration. That being said, Reeves is also supposedly looking for a big name actor to play Bruce Wayne/Batman, and Hamm certainly fits that bill.

While no official plot details about The Batman have been revealed yet, Matt Reeves has previously said that it will be a noir-driven story that will highlight Bruce Waynes skills as a detective, territory that has barely been explored in the characters previous live action adaptations on the big screen. Reeves will also feature a rogues gallery in The Batman, and one of those villains is rumored to be The Penguin.

The Batman hits theaters on June 25, 2021, so keep checking back with CinemaBlend for more updates on how its coming along. As for Jon Hamm, he can currently be seen in The Report, and later this year hell appear in Lucy in the Sky and Good Omens.

What Goosebumps 2 Might Be About

What Goosebumps 2 Might Be About

After the release of the Goosebumps movie in 2015, a sequel was soon greenlit, but not a whole lot of progress has been made since then. The biggest roadblock seemed to be that it was unclear if Jack Black would return to reprise his role as R.L. Stine, but recent reports suggest that Black is onboard for the sequel. The plot is still a mystery, but a new potential synopsis has surfaced that claims the sequel will see the return of the first movie's villain, Slappy, ready to unleash some horror once again.

The new plot details come from Omega Underground, who claims to have learned that Goosebumps 2 will be called "Goosebumps: Slappy's Revenge". As the title indicates, the movie will find Slappy, the evil ventriloquist dummy, coming back to the real world to unleash an apocalypse on Halloween night with the help of, of all people, Nikola Tesla. The sequel will reportedly feature a new set of kids: a 17-year-old named Sarah, her brother Sonny and his best friend Sam. Jack Black is said to be reprising the voice of Slappy, but there's no mention that he'll also perform as R.L. Stine.

It should be noted that there is no source listed, so a grain of salt is necessary with this report. There has been no mention if the kids from the first film will be back, and it would make sense for a new cast to be brought in. While the newest reports indicated that Jack Black was coming back, earlier rumors suggested that scheduling was the main source of conflict for why he wasn't signed on. If the studio had trouble getting Black in person, it would be relatively easier to just have him provide the voice of the villain.

All that being said, Goosebumps 2 is likely on track with or without Jack Black. Supposedly two different scripts were written: one that includes Black's R.L. Stine and another from writer Rob Lieber that left his character out. Goosebumps 2 was originally scheduled to have released in theaters sooner, but Sony recently gave it an updated release date of October 12, 2018, putting it closer to Halloween. Before that, it was slated for September 21, but Sony pushed it to avoid conflict with a different movie starring Black, implying that he was indeed involved with Goosebumps 2.

This suggested plot synopsis is as good as any other, and I want to know if it's real for the sole reason of learning why it involves Nikola Tesla. Goosebumps 2 is currently scheduled to be released on October 12, 2018. For more movie news, keep it right here at CinemaBlend.

The fate of the Goosebumps series might be unclear, but Stine offered an update on the progress of films based on Fear Street. "There were three scripts, it was supposed to be three movies, that
