New Once Upon A Deadpool Video Has Fred Savage Hilariously Interrogating Wade

When it was announced that Deadpool, the distinctly R-rated Merc with a Mouth, was getting a PG-13 cut of Deadpool 2, the collective sentiment was 'Huh?' We had questions, and in the latest bit of marketing for the film, a captive Fred Savage tries to get answers. Take a look at the video below to see Fred Savage, hilariously interrogating Wade Wilson.

We won't know until December 12 how well Deadpool 2 works as a PG-13 film, but the marketing for Once Upon a Deadpool is just as hilarious and brilliant as anything else we've seen from this franchise. The Fred Savage/Deadpool dynamic is very funny, as here we see the Wonder Years star asking the foul-mouthed Merc the questions that need asking, both about himself and about Once Upon a Deadpool.

Deadpool's responses to Fred Savage's personal questions are great and totally self-deprecatory as we've come to expect from the character. Fred Savage really gets to the heart of the matter though with Once Upon a Deadpool, asking Wade the question we all want to know 'Why PG-13?'

Wade's response about money and Disney are great because they're exactly the motivations many suspected when we first heard about Once Upon a Deadpool, making them totally on brand for the meta character. I also would not be surprised to hear more Disney jokes in the film itself, given the fact that it's all but certain that the Merc with a Mouth and Mickey Mouse will soon be sharing an office.

Deadpool's answer about money being the motivation for the PG-13 Once Upon a Deadpool is funny because we all know it's true, but it doesn't quite tell the whole story. Being that this is a "family movie" and it's the holidays, Once Upon a Deadpool isn't just a pure cash grab. That's because for every ticket sold, $1 goes to the charity Fuck Cancer, which has changed its name to Fudge Cancer, in keeping with the PG-13-ness of Once Upon a Deadpool.

Wade Wilson/Ryan Reynolds (the line between them is quite blurred) says that he is a fan of The Princess Bride, but as you can see from Ryan Reynold's tweet, he's also a fan of another '80s classic kids movie: Uncle Buck.

In that film, Macaulay Culkin's Miles interrogates his Uncle Buck, played by the late, great John Candy, upon first meeting him, much as Fred Savage does to Deadpool here. And Miles was also very curious about his Uncle's living arrangements in his line of consecutive questions.

So this video for Once Upon a Deadpool, has Fred Savage, in the bedroom from A Princess Bride, paying homage to Uncle Buck, while questioning Deadpool. That's nostalgia, wrapped in meta nostalgia, wrapped in a superhero sequel. Ladies and gentlemen, that is a nesting doll of holiday goodness.

As to whether or not audiences will, as Fred Savage queries, 'be stupid enough to swallow this,' we'll find out when Once Upon a Deadpool opens on December 12. Why Clint Eastwood Prefers Directing Over Acting Nowadays

There are few living Hollywood legends as accomplished as Clint Eastwood. He first lit up the big screen as a wandering gunfighter in the spaghetti western A Fistful of Dollars in 1964, and since he hasn't traveled far from the spotlight. At 88-years-old, Eastwood is just as much of an established director as he is an iconic star, with his next project being The Mule, a crime drama he both directed and stars in.

CinemaBlend's own Sean O'Connell recently sat down with Clint Eastwood for an exclusive interview ahead of the release of The Mule. When asked whether he preferred acting or directing, Eastwood had some fair reasons why he still pursues each but leans more toward directing these days. In his words:

To doing both jobs, I've done it so many times that I never put the difference in. Directing a film is the same... it's a little more leisurely that way. You don't have to suit up. People aren't coming in and combing your hair or whatever. It's a little more leisurely, but different. But they both have an adventure. It's a new adventure. It's a new story. It has new obstacles. So that's what keeps it exciting.

Clint Eastwood sounds passionate as ever about the work he does, but realizes that sitting back in a baseball cap and calling the shots doesn't requires eyes on how he looks in the scene and so on. The actor/director looks to still find passion in both facets of filmmaking, especially considering he's doubling up as the star and man behind the camera in his upcoming film, The Mule.

Clint Eastwood has been busy at work directing film after film at quite the impressive rate, including both Jersey Boys and American Sniper in 2014, 2016's Sully and The 15:17 to Paris earlier this year. However, he hasn't been seen onscreen since 2012's Trouble with the Curve. It makes sense that Eastwood would want to sit back and focus on his directing craft in his later years, and leaving the onscreen glitz and glam to other actors. Then again, he has never waited too long before coming back to his roots in acting.

In The Mule, Eastwood will be playing a 90-year-old horticulturalist and war veteran who becomes a drug mule for the Mexican cartel. The story is based on a true story of a similar man detailed in a New York Times story published in 2014. The film looks to be an emotional role for Eastwood, as his character Earl Stone is filled with regret and sadness around his actions as he becomes in over his head as an FBI agent, played by Bradley Cooper catches wind of his dealings.

This could be good news. Fantastic Beasts 3, which has yet to reveal its title beyond the cast and crew, just delayed production to late fall 2019. It was originally set to start filming this July, pushing the schedule back several months.

That's the word from Deadline. Why is Fantastic Beasts 3 being delayed? Apparently it's about giving the third film more prep time. To start filming this summer, a gigantic world-building production like Fantastic Beasts 3 would actually have to be in early prep right now. So the stars are being told about the production change so they can adjust their own schedules. (We can get into what this means for Ezra Miller's The Flash movie in a separate talk.)

Does this mean Fantastic Beasts 3 won't release in 2020? The first two films released in November, and it was expected that #3 would open in November 2020, with the final two films following in 2020 and 2024. But now that plan may have changed, or maybe it will change depending on how production and post-production go from here. Don't be shocked if we hear about Fantastic Beasts 3 moving to 2021.

A delay isn't often seen as hopeful, but to me this is exactly the right move. It shows that Warner Bros. is learning from what has worked and what could improve.

As Deadline noted, Warner Bros. had a habit of rushing major films to make them stick to their scheduled release dates, even if that rush produced [Justice League] less-than-stellar results. The success of Aquaman shows what can happen if they loosen the reins, so to speak, and don't try to force things.

Warner Bros. is actually coming off its best year at the box office ever in 2018, thanks mostly to #1 billion dollar baby Aquaman, but also to its #2 film, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald. But they have to know that, even with $648,820,988 worldwide, Grindelwald could and should have done better at the box office and with fan/critic responses.

Overall, Grindelwald was seen as a step down from Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Fantastic Beasts 2 made significantly less money than the $814,037,575 of the first movie, and was given lower scores and reviews. A few fans did say they liked Grindelwald more than the first movie, but most of the responses -- even the positive ones -- were less enthusiastic than for Newt Scamander's initial journey.

That's not exactly the trend you want to see when you are making what's planned to be a five-film franchise. As far as we know, that's still the plan. But it's smart to take extra time in pre-production to get the ducks aligned instead of rushing into a massive potential blockbuster.

Also, possibly -- hopefully? -- they can use this time to take another hard look at the script. Harry Potter maestro J.K. Rowling is the screenwriter for all of these films but she could use backup from someone willing to take a tough line. This is why I was hoping they'd get Alfonso Cuaron to step back into the Potter ring for one of the later Fantastic Beasts movies. He brought a fresh eye to Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, and that kind of storytelling vision could really come in handy.

In the meantime, Warner Bros. recently announced Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald will be coming to Digital HD on February 15, and then 4K UHD Combo Pack, Blu-ray Combo Pack and DVD Special Edition on March 12. Heads up, the release comes with a special extended cut, in case you wanted even more.
